About the orchestra
The Youth Brass Orchestra of the F. Chopin Mariánské Lázně School of Music was founded in 1969. It consists of more than 50 musicians with an average age of 15. Despite its youth, the orchestra has achieved considerable success – not only at home in Mariánské Lázně and elsewhere in the Czech Republic, but also abroad, where it has won acclaim in most European countries. It has performed in Spain, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Croatia and Italy, as well as on the island of Malta and in Tunisia in North Africa.
Since 1973, a group of 16 majorettes has been an integral part of the orchestra. The best proof of the genuine interest in both ensembles is that together they give around 100 performances a year. The orchestra also takes part in many festivals and international competitions, from which it has brought home around 40 diplomas and awards. A large share of this success naturally belongs to the leaders of both ensembles: the conductor of the Youth Brass Orchestra, Josef Koreis, and the leader of the majorettes, Mgr. Hana Nováková.
